The mission of the MIYFS Foundation is to raise funds to support the work of Mercer Island Youth and Family Services while contributing to the MIYFS vision of a healthy Mercer Island community for all adults, children and youth. The Foundation plays a vital part in maintaining the MIYFS safety net, especially since larger entities such as King County are reducing social services funding.

As an example of recent efforts, the Foundation has provided funds for:
  • preschool scholarships so that children from low-income families can attend pre-schools on the Island
  • the Girls Empowerment Group for at risk girls (ages 11-14)
  • a twelve passenger fan for the VOICE program
  • matching funds required for the federally funded Communities That Care program to reduce underage drinking on Mercer Island
  • $193,000 in general MIYFS operating support
